John Daly - What I never travel without

How John Daly travels

Pro golfer John Daly turned pro in 1987, and shot to fame just four years later with a surprise PGA Championship win. Daly’s colorful character and huge drives off the tee made him a PGA Tour favorite, and he went on to win the Open Championship in 1995, and the Buick Invitational in 2004. He has played for the US national team four times, including a 1993 win in the Dunhill Cup. Daly’s business interests include a golf course design company and a number of golf and casual clothing lines. Tully Luxury Travel caught up with John to find out about his travel essentials and his packing habits.

What kind of bags do you travel with?

My suitcases are personalized “Camo” ballistic bags by Club Glove. For my personal bag I use my lion logo / “JD” Club Glove Carry On III in black and red.

Tell us about the three essentials you always bring with you…

An item of clothing

I never leave without my Nike razorback performance shorts, my Nike slides and of course my loudmouth golf slacks! (1)

An accessory

My Marlboro special blends and my trusted partner in crime – my Zippo! (2)

A grooming product

An excellent but disposable razor. I’m not the bearded type of guy. (3)

What tech do you always take on vacation?

When on the course or in the hotel, I don’t go anywhere without my iPod 120 GB (4). It holds 30,000+ songs and I only jam them on my Dallas Cowboys Bose Soundink III Speaker (5).

What do you read when traveling?

I haven’t read a book since I had to proof mine: “My Life In and Out of the Rough” (6) – best-seller for 15 weeks! When I read now it’s the ESPN ticket.

What’s the one thing you’d NEVER travel without?

That’s easy, cash! The international language. Cash is king (7)!
